WordPlace: The Southern Tier Literary Center

WordPlace is a literary center on the southwest corner of Binghamton's historic Bundy Campus, affiliated with the Bundy Museum of History & Art and built specifically around spoken word, poetry and prose programming.

Atmosphere and Setting

The space functions as a café and community literary hub, serving food and coffee during the day and adding beer and wine service for evening events. It's a quieter, more focused setting than a typical bar open mic — built for listening as much as performing.

Poetry Open Mic

WordPlace hosts a Poetry Open Mic Thursday led by Bundy Museum Poet-in-Residence J. Barrett Wolf, running from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM with sign-up starting at 7:45 PM. Each performer gets five to seven minutes and can share up to three pieces of poetry, prose or spoken word.

Other Programming

WordPlace and the adjoining Bundy Museum run a broader slate of literary and cultural events throughout the year, including featured-poet nights and community readings.
