About VOO Lounge
VOO Lounge represents a stunning revival of Kansas Citys historic Rendezvous space bringing sophisticated jazz entertainment back to the heart of downtown. Located in the Kansas City Marriott Downtown at 1214 Baltimore Avenue this intimate cocktail lounge features elegant art-deco decor plush seating and an atmosphere reminiscent of the golden age of jazz.
Historic Jazz Legacy
The venue occupies a space steeped in Kansas City music history. This is the same building where the Coon-Sanders Original Nighthawk Orchestra made jazz history with late-night national radio broadcasts in the early days of American jazz. VOO Lounge proudly continues this legacy by hosting live jazz performances and open mic sessions that honor Kansas Citys pivotal role in jazz development.
Open Mic Jazz Jam
Every Wednesday from 7-11 PM VOO Lounge hosts a legendary open mic jazz jam led by Dr. Mike Pagan and his trio. Dr. Pagan brings impressive credentials with a Doctor of Music from Northwestern University and performs alongside some of Kansas Citys finest jazz talent. The weekly jam welcomes instrumentalists vocalists and jazz enthusiasts of all skill levels. Whether youre a seasoned player a curious newcomer or simply a jazz lover the vibe is electric and the setting is iconic. Theres no cover charge and free downtown parking is available making it accessible for all.
Regular Programming
In addition to Wednesday night jams VOO Lounge features rotating musicians and performers every Friday and Saturday night from 6 PM to 1 AM. The venue hosts special events including cocktail-making classes private parties corporate events and wedding celebrations. The space can accommodate up to 100 guests for private events.
Atmosphere and Amenities
The lounge features a visually stunning interior with elegant speakeasy-style decor dim lighting and intimate seating arrangements including bar seating high-top tables and plush couches. The fully stocked bar offers meticulously crafted cocktails an impressive wine selection and classic drinks. Wednesday night specials include 25% off entire tabs for musicians and service industry professionals happy hour pricing on premium wells and draft beer and discounts on whiskey and wine pours. Parking and Accessibility
Complimentary 2-hour self-parking is available in the Kansas City Marriott Downtown Garage. Valet parking is also offered for $15. The venue is wheelchair accessible though some areas require elevator use.
Hours of Operation
VOO Lounge is open Wednesday and Thursday from 4-10 PM and Friday and Saturday from 6 PM to 1 AM. The venue is closed Sunday through Tuesday. For live music schedules and special events check the venues website or social media.
