About Uncommon Ground

Uncommon Ground has been a Lakeview institution for over 25 years establishing itself as home to Chicagos best open mic night. The venue combines live music with sustainable dining featuring an on-site organic brewery.

Open Mic Legacy

The Shure-sponsored open mic runs every Sunday and has launched the careers of numerous Chicago musicians. The competitive format includes weekly winners semi-finals and an annual finale with prizes including microphones studio time and cash awards.

Dining Experience

The restaurant serves modern American cuisine with a focus on local and organic ingredients. Full dinner service is available during performances with seating available from 4pm. The venue also features Greenstar Brewing offering award-winning organic beers.

Additional Events

Beyond the weekly open mic Uncommon Ground hosts touring singer-songwriters indie artists and local bands. The venue provides an intimate setting for acoustic performances and full-band shows.
