Established in May 2012 by Stu Herreid and Dan Elliott the shop has become a vital gathering place for musicians and music enthusiasts in the greater Sacramento region.
Store Specialty
The Strum Shop specializes in acoustic instruments including ukuleles guitars banjos mandolins and dulcimers. The shop carries a full line of instruments along with a variety of other curious and unique instruments. The motivation for opening the store was to support the rapidly growing community of ukulele players in the greater Sacramento area. The shop encourages a hands-on approach with customers invited to grab an instrument off the wall and play.
Community Music Programming
The Strum Shop hosts numerous music events throughout each month including workshops classes concerts and seminars. Regular groups include Uke University River City Ukulele Orchestra Songwriters Circle Acoustic Guitar Club Irish Slow Circle Bluegrass Jam Banjo Ukulele Club Baritone Ukulele Club and River City Dulcimers. The Bluegrass Jam meets on the fourth Thursday of each month welcoming all skill levels.
