Songbirds Foundation: Music Museum and Live Venue

Songbirds Foundation moved to its current Southside location in April 2024 becoming Chattanooga's premier music venue and museum dedicated to preserving guitar history and supporting emerging artists. Originally founded in 2017 the nonprofit has grown to become a vital cultural institution serving hundreds of youth and thousands of live event attendees annually.

The Guitar Museum

Songbirds maintains a world-class collection of more than 40 rare and vintage guitars on permanent display including two Les Paul Goldtop prototypes and a Fender Acoustasonic previously owned by Dolly Parton. The collection also features vintage effects pedals amplifiers and music memorabilia. Interactive audio and video exhibits provide educational context and inspiration. The museum is open during all venue events and is accessible to all ages.

Live Music Programming

The twice-monthly open mic series hosted by James Snider of Fresh Mind welcomes musicians of all skill levels and genres. Limited to 10 performers with first-come-first-served sign-ups the intimate format creates a supportive community environment. The venue also hosts rock bands alt-metal groups cover bands and student performances. All performances occur in a professionally-designed concert hall with excellent acoustics. Happy hour pricing on beer and wine from 6-7 PM on open mic nights encourages community participation and discovery.

Educational Programs

Songbirds offers guitar lessons for beginners and advanced players songwriting workshops music production training and music therapy sessions. The Write to Rock program provides free guitar lessons and music experiences to elementary school students across the South. All proceeds from the venue support educational programming and artist development.

Venue Features

The space includes a 220-person capacity concert hall with a custom-built oak and ash stage providing excellent sightlines and professional sound. A full commercial kitchen and two bars provide food and beverage service. An outdoor patio expands the gathering space. The venue is available for private events corporate functions and special celebrations.
