SKOG Haus Coffee & Tea
SKOG Haus Coffee & Tea is a family-owned neighborhood cafe in Mountlake Terrace just north of Seattle. It pours coffee and tea from small Pacific Northwest roasters and focuses on sourcing from other local small businesses. Its goal is simple. It wants to be a place to sit and gather together.
The Story Behind SKOG
Heather Skogerson and her husband Dave started SKOG as a shiny mobile coffee trailer in Lake Forest Park. After more than three years on wheels they moved indoors to the Terrace Station development near the 236th Street light rail station. The brick-and-mortar cafe opened in late 2024 and the neighborhood quickly made it a regular stop.
The Vibe
The cafe is bright and relaxed with a daytime crowd of neighbors and families and commuters. Sunday afternoons bring a small stage and a supportive audience that stays for a few songs over a latte.
What They Serve
SKOG serves espresso drinks and loose-leaf teas along with pastries and light bites. The cafe is committed to sustainability and nearly everything it serves in is compostable.
Sunday Open Mic and Featured Artist
Most Sundays from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM SKOG hosts a free all-ages open mic where artists of every level are welcome. On the final Sunday of each month the open mic makes way for a featured local artist who plays an extended set. Music is the main focus but poetry is welcome too.
Why Performers Like It
An afternoon slot and a family crowd make this an easy place to play for the first time. Acoustic players and singer-songwriters fit right in.
