About Rhizome Roots Studio

Rhizome Roots Studio is a dance, movement, and community arts studio at 108 Pearl Street in Ypsilanti. Charlie Fuller opened the studio in July 2025 after a career in health and wellness, and it has quickly become a welcoming home for people who want to move, create, and connect.

Atmosphere and Setting

The studio deliberately has no stage, so performers and listeners share the same floor. The result is an intimate, pressure-free room built for connection rather than performance polish. Games and refreshments keep the mood social between acts, and the crowd tends to be curious and encouraging.

Classes and Programs

Beyond special events, Rhizome Roots offers regular classes in social dance, yoga, and mindful movement. Beginners are welcome, and the studio's emphasis is on community and well-being rather than perfection.

Community

Because Ypsilanti has a long tradition of DIY arts, the studio fits naturally into the downtown scene. Singers, poets, magicians, and other performers all find a place here, and admission is set at modest prices so that the space stays accessible.

An Ypsilanti Original

Ypsilanti has a long history of independent, community-minded arts spaces, and Rhizome Roots adds a new chapter. Because the studio combines classes with performance, visitors may meet the same instructors, dancers, and neighbors at a class one day and a community night the next, which gives the room a genuine sense of belonging.
