Decatur's Music & Dining Destination
Napoleon's Grill has been a Decatur institution for decades combining Mediterranean-inspired American cuisine with a robust live music calendar. The restaurant and bar in the Oak Grove community has become particularly renowned for hosting some of Atlanta's most respected jam sessions.
Music Programming
Napoleon's features three distinct regular jam sessions each appealing to different musical communities. Monday nights belong to Joe Gransden's Jazz Jam (7:30-10:00 PM) which has been running for years and attracts musicians from ages 10 to 90. Gransden a veteran trumpeter and big band leader creates a relaxed no-pressure atmosphere where musicians of all levels can network and grow. His house band includes Tyrone Jackson (keyboards) Joel Powell (bass) and Chris Burroughs (drums).
The 2nd and 4th Thursday Blues Jam (7:30-10:00 PM) features Sandra Senn and the ladies of Blue Velvet Atlanta. These sessions invite musicians to bring instruments and showcase talent with dancing and jamming throughout the evening.
The 2nd and 4th Tuesday Acoustic Open Mic (7:30-10:00 PM) with Bill Sheffield and Spencer L. Kirkpatrick focuses on acoustic performances. Each artist performs two songs (10 minutes total). No amplifiers laptops or loopers allowed - pure acoustic performances only. Musicians must bring own instruments.
