The Square

Main Street Square stands as downtown Rapid City's premier public gathering space located in the heart of the city. Managed by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization this vibrant outdoor venue does not receive city funding but operates through donations from Partners in Progress event proceeds and grants. The square serves as a fun-filled destination featuring special events arts and culture live concerts seasonal ice skating and interactive fountains throughout the year.

Situated among the City of Presidents statues boutiques eateries and galleries Main Street Square offers a central location for community gatherings and cultural events. The square provides modern sound systems and stage lighting for performances with beautiful open-air spaces perfect for concerts and festivals. Parking is available in the nearby main parking ramp with over 500 spots plus metered street parking throughout downtown during weekday and Saturday hours.

Music Events

The square hosts the Emerging Performing Artists Open Mic series on First Fridays as part of the downtown Art Walk events coordinated with the Rapid City Arts Council. These free open mic nights run from 6-8 PM welcoming local musicians poets and performing artists to showcase their talents. The square also presents free concerts throughout the year including summer concert series and special events.
