Lovin' Cup

Lovin' Cup is a bistro and brewery at Park Point near the Rochester Institute of Technology, combining a full kitchen and house-brewed beer with a genuinely professional concert setup — a proper stage, sound system and stage lighting rarely found at a restaurant this size.

Atmosphere and Setting

The venue markets itself around an “all-encompassing, sensory experience,” and the room backs that up: comfortable bistro seating that turns into a genuine concert audience once the stage lights come up, with a menu and drink list that keeps people around well past their own performance slot.

Open Mic Night

Lovin' Cup has hosted a free, weekly open mic every Tuesday night since 2009, making it one of the longest-running recurring music nights in Rochester. Sign-up begins at 6:30 PM ahead of a 7:00 PM start, and the night welcomes singers, songwriters, instrumentalists, comedians, poets, storytellers and dancers alike. The format is intentionally low-tech — no full bands, drum kits or large amplifiers — which keeps turnover quick and gives more performers a turn. A house piano is available, and microphones are sanitized between each act.

Other Programming

Outside of the Tuesday open mic, Lovin' Cup books a steady stream of touring and regional bands, taking full advantage of its professional-grade stage and sound system.

For Performers

Because sign-ups run first-come, first-served and the show has a loyal following of regulars, arriving close to 6:30 PM is the best way to guarantee a spot.
