Boise Hive is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing suicide in the music community through mental health services education and creative programming. Located in the historic Custom Recording & Sound building on the Boise Bench the Hive provides a safe sober all-ages space where musicians and artists can practice perform learn and access vital mental health resources.

Mission & Mental Health Services

The core mission of Boise Hive is to safeguard mental health within the music community with a focus on suicide prevention. The organization offers complimentary counseling educational opportunities and comprehensive mental health resources tailored to support musicians at every stage of their journey. Individual counseling services and support groups are integral to the mission providing compassionate care to those navigating mental health challenges. The organization envisions a future where the creative community thrives in emotional well-being and mental health challenges are addressed openly and effectively.

Facilities & Rehearsal Spaces

The Hive features four professional studios/rehearsal spaces a community room multimedia room recording studio and a snack bar. Musicians can book practice spaces through the venue's convenient online booking platform (Skedda). The facility maintains a drug and alcohol-free environment making it an ideal haven for young musicians including teenagers and young adults to explore and grow their talents safely.

Music Programs & Events

Boise Hive hosts an extensive array of music programs and events. The monthly Open Mic Night (last Wednesday of each month 6:30-8:00 PM) welcomes musicians poets and performers of all kinds. Live at the Hive concerts happen every Saturday showcasing diverse musical genres and providing worldwide streaming of performances. The venue also hosts the Gene Harris Jazz Jam sessions in partnership with Boise State University offering jazz musicians opportunities to practice improvisation and collaboration.

Educational programs include Audio Recording Classes Student Jazz sessions Veterans Sessions Creative Culture Beats Hip Hop at The Hive and HiveTronica for electronic and experimental musicians. All programs emphasize the connection between artistic expression and mental well-being.

Community Impact

Boise Hive operates primarily through volunteers (98% of the workforce) creating opportunities for community members to gain new skills while making a positive impact. The venue serves a wide range of community members from veterans seeking camaraderie to young artists exploring their talents. Through music education wellness programs and collaborative events the Hive fosters a nurturing creative community that empowers musicians and artists throughout Idaho. Operating hours are Monday-Friday 12:00 PM-10:00 PM and Saturday-Sunday 2:00 PM-10:00 PM though hours may vary as a volunteer-operated facility.
