Blue Jay Listening Room is an award-winning intimate music venue that opened in 2017 in South Jacksonville Beach. Founded by venue director and musician Cara Murphy Blue Jay was created to address a void in the Jacksonville music scene - a dedicated space where audiences could truly listen to musicians share their original songs stories and inspirations rather than treating music as background noise.
The Listening Room Concept
Blue Jay operates on a foundational philosophy summarized as Please Be Quiet. This isn't a typical bar or restaurant gig - it's a sacred listening space where audiences silence their phones sit attentively and connect deeply with artists. The 80-capacity room creates an environment where conversation is welcomed before shows during set breaks and after performances but strongly discouraged during the music itself. Repeat violators of this policy are politely asked to leave ensuring an optimal experience for respectful listeners.
