The Whit's End
The Whit's End is a cozy and casual neighborhood bar on Phinney Ridge. It has pool and steel-tip darts and pinball and a jukebox and it hosts karaoke and trivia along with a popular open mic. It is the kind of place where neighbors drop in for one drink and end up staying for the music.
The Story Behind the Name
Owner Chad Campbell ran In the Red Wine Bar in the same spot for six years. In late 2016 he decided he wanted a regular old neighborhood bar instead and reopened as The Whit's End. The name is a play on his middle name Whitson and the phrase wit's end.
The Vibe
It is relaxed and unpretentious with games everywhere you look. The bar opens early for big matches and is a home base for fans of the Chicago Bears and Tottenham Hotspur and the Oregon Ducks.
What They Serve
There are 11 beers on tap along with spirits and wine by the glass. The kitchen serves sliders and mac and cheese and tri-tip and tots.
Open Mic
The Whit's End Open Mic runs on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month from 8:00 PM to midnight with sign-up at 7:30 PM. Play solo or form a jam on the spot. Drums and keys and bass are available.
Why Musicians Like It
Having a drum kit and keys and bass on hand means you can pull together a band right there. The neighborhood crowd is supportive and the long night leaves room for everyone.
More Events
Trivia runs weekly on Tuesdays and karaoke nights fill out the calendar.
