The Monarch Music and Arts Community
The Monarch is Louisville's grassroots creative hub social club and resource center serving a thriving community of musicians artists and music lovers. This nonprofit venue operates with a mission to provide collaborative safe space for artists to create perform and grow.
The Space
The intimate venue features two rooms - a front performance space holding approximately 50 people and an upper back room accommodating another 20. This cozy layout creates an engaging atmosphere where no audience member is far from the performers. The venue has earned consistent praise for its great sound perfect lighting and welcoming environment.
Music Programming
The Monarch hosts diverse musical acts including touring singer-songwriters Americana bands bluegrass artists and jazz musicians. The venue specializes in acoustic performances that benefit from the intimate listening room atmosphere. Regular programming includes the bi-weekly Jazz Jam & Potluck on 2nd and 4th Sundays from 3-6 PM hosted by the JonAnthony Quintet.
Community & Membership
As a member-supported organization The Monarch provides private access to members while maintaining public programming. The venue operates as a resource center and social club connecting artists with patrons and creating favorable conditions for Louisville's creative community to thrive.
Jazz Jam Details
The Sunday afternoon jazz jams welcome musicians of all levels and ages. The venue provides piano bass drums and small vocal PA. Guitarists should bring small amps and vocalists need their own microphones. There's no cover charge though donations support the host musicians. The format encourages collaboration with groups of 6-7 musicians formed by the session leader.
