Sunday Open Mic Jam @ Little Red Hen
Sunday evenings at the Little Red Hen belong to local players. Host Billy Bodacious leads the weekly Open Mic Jam at Seattle's classic Green Lake honky tonk and the night has become a favorite way to close out the weekend for musicians and dancers alike.
What to Expect
The Sunday jam starts around 7:00 PM. Players take turns stepping up to the stage and the music covers a lot of ground with country and blues and rock and roots songs all part of the mix. Surprise special guests often sit in so you never quite know who might show up. The crowd is friendly and loves to dance which means your set may fill the floor with two-steppers. That is a rare treat for an open mic.
Who Should Come
Singers and guitar players and bass players and harmonica players and anyone who can hold their own on a country or roots tune will find a place here. It is a relaxed room and newer players are welcome to jump in alongside seasoned locals. If you just want to listen the Sunday jam is a fun and low key way to hear Seattle's roots music community in action.

About the Venue
The Little Red Hen has been part of Seattle since 1933 and has called Green Lake home since 1968. It is known as Seattle's only country western dance floor and hosts live entertainment seven nights a week. The bar kept the music going through a long lease fight and the eviction case was dismissed in September 2026 thanks in part to the huge community support behind the Save The Hen campaign.

On Tuesday nights the Outlanders Progressive Bluegrass Social Club hosts a Bluegrass Jam with a beginners circle around 7:00 PM and a stage set around 8:15 PM. The rest of the week brings a Monday line dance party and Wednesday karaoke and live country bands Thursday through Saturday.
