A Modern Listening Room

The Stray is far more than just a place to grab a caffeine fix. It is a community-driven "third space" designed specifically for the intersection of art, music, and local culture. Since its opening, it has carved out a unique identity as a refined yet accessible venue that champions Michigan's creative community.

The Vibe

The atmosphere at The Stray strikes a careful balance between a cozy neighborhood coffeehouse and a sophisticated performance venue. During the day, it serves as a bright, welcoming hub for remote work and conversation. As evening approaches, the energy shifts.

Unlike traditional bars where music often serves as background noise, The Stray emphasizes a "Listening Room" environment. This means the space is curated to respect the performer, encouraging the audience to engage with the music and catch every detail of the set. Whether you are there for a quiet morning latte or a ticketed evening show, the aesthetic is modern, inclusive, and intentionally creative.

Beyond the Brew

The Stray provides a full spectrum of hospitality, catering to various tastes throughout the day: Cafe & Provisions: They serve a full menu of coffee and tea, alongside a curated selection of food. The Bar: For evening guests, the cafe offers a selection of beer and wine. Artistic Takeovers: In a unique twist, artists often use the stage as a live studio space during the week, allowing patrons to watch the creative process unfold in real-time.

Diverse Programming: Beyond music, the cafe hosts Game Nights every Thursday, alternating between trivia hosted by Greg King and board game nights hosted by Eva & Drake Anderson.
