A free all-ages open mic in CFAC's Black Box Theatre celebrating poetry, spoken word and music. Held on selected Wednesday evenings with rotating community hosts.

Community Folk Art Center

The Community Folk Art Center (CFAC) is a Syracuse University-affiliated gallery and cultural arts center dedicated to the art of the African Diaspora. Housed on East Genesee Street, it combines a public gallery with a Black Box Theatre used for performance, film and community programming.

Snaps & Taps Open Mic Night

On selected Wednesday evenings, CFAC’s Black Box Theatre hosts Snaps & Taps, a free, all-ages open mic built around poetry, spoken word and music. Hosting rotates among community artists — recent nights have been led by Randum and Doclogik — and the room draws a mix of Syracuse University students and Syracuse residents.

Other Events

CFAC’s calendar also includes gallery exhibitions, film screenings, gallery talks and studio classes in dance and ceramics, reflecting its broader mission of celebrating the visual and expressive arts of the African Diaspora.
