About Shrine World Music Venue

Shrine World Music Venue at 2271 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard, between 133rd and 134th Streets, is a vibrant explosion of culture, art, and sound in central Harlem. Established in 2007, it functions as a multimedia arts and culture center showcasing Afrobeat, reggae, jazz, funk, and more.

Atmosphere and Setting

Vintage vinyl records, concert posters, and African art decorate the walls, and the room is loud, unapologetic, and incredibly welcoming. The line between performers and audience is thin, and dancing is encouraged. Anyone who steps inside quickly senses that the room is built for participation.

Food and Drink

Shrine shares management with an adjacent restaurant, and the menu offers burgers, wings, jollof rice, and vegetarian curries. The full bar serves beer, signature cocktails, and happy hour specials.

Music

The programming emphasizes the music of the African diaspora and the sounds that grew from it. The house band and guest musicians blend jazz with funk, Afro-Cuban, and R&B, and the room welcomes players and listeners of every stripe.
