The calendar leans eclectic with indie rock alt-country punk hip-hop and Americana sharing the bill. Emerging national tours mix with Charleston standouts like SUSTO and She Returns From War. The cozy stage features professional lighting and sound with a crowd that shows up for discovery as much as headliners.

Food and Drink

Executive Chef Kirsten Lawton has elevated the Classic American menu to new heights with rotating soups Red Plate Specials and Staff Meals. Royal menu classics include 32oz Punches Housemade Beef Jerky Signature Hamburgers and Patty Melts and Colossal Baked Potatoes. New dishes include Music City Hot Shrimp Philly Cheesesteaks Magic Wings The Pharmacy Burger and Disco Fries. The venue sources only the best and most local ingredients available.

Events and Markets

The Royal American hosts regular weekend markets including Thrifters and Drifters a Charleston-based market of artisans collectors and crafters bringing vintage and locally curated art jewelry vintage clothing and crafts from 1pm-5pm. Other special events include bike rallies featuring American Biker with bikes booze oysters games live music vendors and tattoos.

Venue Atmosphere

The room is compact with crisp sound and friendly sightlines located at 970 Morrison Drive in the North Morrison corridor locals call NoMo. Patio sets spill into lively late-night hangs. Most shows are general admission and standing room so arriving early secures spots near the stage or out on the patio. The venue offers an authentic Charleston music experience in an intimate unfiltered setting.
