Rising Tide Brewing

Rising Tide Brewing is a craft brewery that helped put Portland's East Bayside neighborhood on the beer map. Its tasting room on Fox Street pours cold beer and serves hot food and music is part of the weekly rhythm.

The Story Behind Rising Tide

Nathan and Heather Sanborn founded Rising Tide in 2010. The brewery started on Industrial Way and moved to Fox Street in 2012 where it became an anchor for the neighborhood's growing brewery scene. In late 2024 Oxbow Brewing announced it would acquire Rising Tide with both brands staying independent and Nathan Sanborn continuing as brewer.

The Vibe

The tasting room is casual and friendly with a mix of locals and beer travelers. Hot food comes from partner restaurant Ugly Duckling.

Tuesday Bluegrass Night

Every Tuesday from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM the East Bayside Bluegrass Collective takes over the tasting room. Joe K. Walsh and Steve Roy host and the lineup of musicians rotates. The event is free and the Bluegrass Music Association of Maine lists it as welcoming all skill levels. Arrive early for a seat.

Why Musicians Like It

It is a chance to hear and meet top bluegrass players in a relaxed brewery setting. Pickers who want to join in should introduce themselves to the hosts early.
