Red Rock Coffee
Red Rock Coffee is a two-story coffee house at the corner of Castro and Villa in downtown Mountain View. It is a hub for students remote workers and neighbors and it is home to what is often called the longest-running open mic in the Bay Area. Every Monday the upstairs study space turns into a stage.
Atmosphere and Vibe
Red Rock has an artsy eclectic creative vibe. Regulars describe the Monday open mic as calming and relaxing and say everyone knows each other. The audience tends to be mature and attentive and the room welcomes families since the event is all ages.
Coffee and Food
Red Rock roasts and serves specialty coffee along with teas and pastries. It is an easy place to settle in before the music starts.
Monday Open Mic
The Red Rock Open Mic runs every Monday from 6:00 PM to about 9:00 PM on the second floor with host Ashley Markowicz. The lottery opens at 5:45 PM and names are drawn at random so everyone has a fair shot. Enter your name in person once any time before the lottery closes. Each performer gets about five minutes. Musicians are the most common performers but comedians and poets appear too.

House Rules
Content should stay family friendly and respectful and political material is discouraged. Full drum kits are not allowed due to space. Covers and originals are both welcome.

The lottery keeps the lineup fresh and gets lots of performers on stage. Host Ashley Markowicz emphasizes community and collaboration and many creative partnerships have started in this room.
