Rails End Beer Company
Rails End Beer Company is a neighborhood craft brewery tucked into a light industrial park on Reed Court in Broomfield. It has earned a reputation as one of the north metro area's hidden gems thanks to its well made beers and its big wooden patio and a calendar packed with community events. For musicians it is one of the busiest rooms around Broomfield with a monthly open mic and a twice monthly open jam and live music on most weekends.
The Story Behind the Brewery
Rails End was founded by Dale Reeder who left a long corporate career to open a brewery of his own. The name and the logo were inspired by a painting he spotted in Breckenridge showing train tracks winding through tunnels in the Rocky Mountains. To Dale those tracks stood for the never ending and ever changing journey we all call life. That idea still drives the brewery today with a simple motto to celebrate life's journey and an open invitation for guests to share their own stories over a pint.
The Vibe
The taproom has a charmingly industrious feel with modern design touches and a familiar Colorado look. The brewing equipment is visible from the dining room so you can see where your beer is made. A roll-up door connects the indoor bar to a west facing patio that is the star of the show on warm evenings. The patio is built from wood with multiple platforms and seating areas and it glows at night under string lights and red umbrellas. Dogs are welcome outside and the crowd is a friendly mix of neighbors and families and after work regulars. Weekends can get busy so arriving early is a smart move.
The Beer
Rails End pours a wide range of styles from IPAs and pale ales to stouts and fruited beers with flavors like cherry and key lime and mango and pine. The Blood Orange Double IPA is the house favorite and it has become so popular that it now shows up on local store shelves along with its lighter sibling Blood Light. The tap list rotates so there is usually something new to try and crowlers are available to take home.
Food
Rotating food trucks park outside most days and staff will often bring your order right to your seat. Burger trucks and other local favorites are in the lineup. Monday and Tuesday bring a Pizza and Pint Night deal that pairs one pizza with two pints at a set price.
Open Mic Night
On the third Thursday of every month Rails End hosts a free open mic from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Performers register ahead through an online sign-up form and each act gets about 15 minutes. The stage is set up for solo musicians but the sound system can handle full bands so mark your group on the sign-up and plan to load in early and coordinate with the sound engineer. One of the best perks is a house drummer who is available to jam with performers who reach out ahead of time. The open mic is hosted by Lisa and questions can go to lisa@railsendbeerco.com. Open Jam
Rails End also hosts an open jam on the first and third Mondays from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Bring your instrument and come jam with other local musicians. No sign-up is required so just show up and join in. It is a great way to meet other players in Broomfield and find new bandmates.
Live Music
Local bands and solo artists play the taproom regularly with most shows running on Friday and Saturday evenings and the occasional weekend afternoon set. Recent lineups have included Father Figures and Presley Caramella and Josh Blackburn and Colorado songwriter Jacob Finkbiner along with a Halloween set from the Pinebox Sleepers. More Events
Music is only part of the calendar. Bingo runs every Tuesday at 6:00 PM and trivia takes over on Wednesdays from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM with themed nights through the year. The brewery also hosts ukulele classes and yoga sessions and movie nights and pottery nights and a fall chili cookoff. Fundraisers are a regular part of the schedule and the brewery has a strong tradition of supporting local service members.
Specials
Happy hour runs Monday through Thursday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM with a dollar off all pints. Mondays bring discounted flights and Wednesdays feature Ladies Night with five dollar pints.
