The Parlor Room

The Parlor Room is a listening room in downtown Northampton run by the Iron Horse Entertainment Group, the organization behind the historic Iron Horse Music Hall next door. It also houses the Parlor School of Music, offering lessons alongside its performance programming.

Atmosphere and Setting

True to its billing as a listening room, the Parlor Room favors quiet attention and sound quality over bar-jam volume — an intimate space built for songwriters and storytellers rather than a loud crowd.

Open Mic Series

On Tuesday nights, the Parlor Room hosts two rotating monthly open mics: a Song and Story Open Mic for songs, stories, poems, and works in progress, and a Queer Open Mic for LGBTQ+ artists, performers, and writers. Both are hosted by local songwriters and run with sign-up required.

Other Programming

As part of the Iron Horse family of venues, the Parlor Room's calendar also includes ticketed singer-songwriter shows and events tied to the Parlor School of Music.
