Paddy Murphy’s Pub

Paddy Murphy's is an Irish pub in downtown Bangor with classic pub food and Irish stouts and a steady week of entertainment. It overlooks West Market Square and draws regulars and newcomers and students alike.

The Story Behind Paddy Murphy's

Owner John Dobbs opened Paddy Murphy's in 2007. The building dates to 1833 when it was built by physician John Mason and from 1875 to 2006 it housed Sweet Market. Staff have stayed for years which says a lot about the place.

The Vibe

It has the feel of a classic Irish bar with a warm and welcoming crowd. An upstairs event space seats about 25 or holds more than 100 standing with views of West Market Square. On St. Patrick's Day the pub opens at 6:00 AM for an all-day celebration.

What They Serve

Taps pour Irish stouts along with local beers from Orono Brewing Company and Geaghan Bros and Blaze's Brewing. Favorite dishes include Quebec burgers and the Paddy's Melt and haddock tacos and salmon alfredo and cottage pie.

Tuesday Irish Session and Open Mic

Every Tuesday the pub hosts a live Irish jam from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM followed by an open mic from 9:00 PM until close. Traditional players can join the early session and singers and songwriters can take the mic later.

Why Musicians Like It

Two chances to play on the same night in a real Irish pub setting. Bring a tin whistle or fiddle early or plan a couple of songs for later.

More Events

Monday nights feature karaoke and Wednesday is trivia. Thursdays have hosted jazz and Sundays bring live guitar or fiddle music.
