About Opening Bell Coffee
Opening Bell Coffee has served Dallas as the city's premier acoustic music venue and coffee bar since 2003 (originally opening as Standard & Pours Coffee & Stocks until S&P Index legal action prompted the name change). Located in the basement of the historic South Side on Lamar Lofts (the former Sears Roebuck Building) just south of I-30 this venue has become legendary for launching the careers of major artists.
The Open Mic Legacy
Opening Bell hosts the longest-running open mic in the Dallas/Fort Worth area running continuously since 2005. Every Saturday from 4-6 PM musicians gather for what has become a Dallas institution. The stage has seen the likes of Leon Bridges and Charley Crockett before they became household names as well as many artists who went on to compete on NBC's The Voice and American Idol. Patrons attending the open mic often catch early glimpses of the next big thing in the local music scene.
The format is simple and welcoming: first come first served with sign-ups starting at 4 PM. Musicians play 2 songs or 10 minutes depending on the number of sign-ups. The venue prefers original material but allows some covers throughout the night. It's all-ages and family-friendly with no backing tracks hip hop rap or explicit language allowed to maintain the acoustic intimate atmosphere.

Opening Bell works with several local coffee roasters featuring only the best local vendors. They offer an excellent selection of local craft beers and fine wines (Paso Robles and Napa selections). The menu covers breakfast lunch and dinner with full service throughout operating hours.

Live Music Programming
Beyond Saturday open mic Opening Bell features live music Thursday through Saturday showcasing local and national original music from some of the world's most sought-out musicians. The venue was named one of 2018's 35 Best Folk Music Venues in the US by Good Deed Seats. Music styles span rock acoustic blues bluegrass country Americana folk indie/alt and jazz.
