Torch Club
Sacramento's Premiere Blues Venue Since 1934
Established in 1934 - the same year Prohibition ended - Torch Club stands as one of Sacramento's oldest bars and the city's undisputed home for blues music. The intimate 75-100 person capacity venue creates an up-close experience where audiences connect directly with performers. The club's commitment to showcasing both local and national blues - jazz - funk - and Americana acts has made it a destination for serious music lovers.
Weekly Music Programming
Live music fills the Torch Club Wednesday through Sunday - with performances often extending to Sunday afternoons. Wednesday evenings from 6:00-8:00 PM feature the popular semi-acoustic open mic - welcoming musicians to share 2-3 songs in an encouraging environment. Sunday afternoons host blues jam sessions where musicians gather to improvise and collaborate. The venue's sound system and acoustics have earned consistent praise from both performers and audience members.
Blues Club Tradition
The Torch Club has hosted legends including Terry Hanck - Janiva Magness - Mark Hummel - Chris Cain - and countless other national touring acts alongside Sacramento's finest local musicians. House bands including The Lew Fratis Trio - Jimmy Pailer & the Prophets - and Aaron King Trio maintain the venue's authentic blues tradition. The dance floor welcomes dancers - and the bar serves quality drinks in a laid-back atmosphere where the music always takes center stage.
