Funk ‘n Waffles

Funk ‘n Waffles is a downtown Syracuse restaurant and live music venue that has been pairing waffles with original and touring acts since 2006. Founded by Syracuse University students Adam Gold and Kyle Corea — Gold also fronts the funk band Sophistifunk — the room built its name on treating musicians as the whole point rather than background noise.

Sunday Jazz Jam and Open Mic

Sundays are the venue’s community-music day. A Jazz Jam runs in the afternoon for improvisers who want to sit in with a house rhythm section, followed in the evening by an all-genre open mic hosted by Attamizk & Friends that welcomes singer-songwriters, bands, poets and first-time performers alike.

Other Events

Beyond the weekly community nights, Funk ‘n Waffles books touring indie, hip hop, funk and jam-band acts most weeks, along with occasional themed fundraiser open mics such as an annual MusicCares benefit night and the monthly Sucka-Free Sundays hip hop showcase.

Funk ‘n Waffles is located at 307-13 S Clinton St, Syracuse, NY 13202, in the Armory Square area of downtown. The kitchen serves waffles and diner fare late into the night on show days.
