Moncus Park

Moncus Park is a large, modern public park in the heart of Lafayette featuring walking trails, a splash pad, playgrounds and a busy calendar of free community events. Each Saturday morning, it also becomes home to the Lafayette Farmers & Artisans Market, a producers-only market for local growers, bakers and artisans.

Atmosphere and Setting

The market and jam take place outdoors under the park's historic oak trees, with a French-language gathering tent nearby and plenty of family-friendly amenities to enjoy alongside the music.

Cajun Music Jam

From 9:00 to 11:00 AM every Saturday, professional accordionist Chad Huval leads a Cajun music jam session during the farmers market, bringing together fiddles, acoustic guitars, tub bass and washboard for an informal, up-close look at traditional Cajun music in action.

Other Programming

Moncus Park hosts a full seasonal calendar of free community events, including summer concert series and outdoor movie nights, alongside its weekly farmers market.

For Performers

Musicians of varying skill levels are welcome to bring an instrument and sit in with the group; bringing a chair is recommended for anyone planning to stay and play.
