Harlym Blue'Z
Harlym Blue'Z is a bar and grill on historic Brookland Park Boulevard in Richmond's Northside. Owners Mecca and Le'Teshia LeSane set out to fuse community and culture and cuisine in one place. The result is a warm neighborhood spot with home-cooked food and signature cocktails and live entertainment on its stage.
The Story Behind Harlym Blue'Z
The name nods to the owners' roots. Mecca brings New York influence and Le'Teshia brings Southern roots along with nearly 20 years of performing in Richmond's arts community. The couple took over the former Boogaloos space after the pandemic and opened without loans or big backers. They built the business on word of mouth and faith. They describe it as a bridge between the LGBTQ+ community and the general public and between arts and activism.
The Vibe
The room is welcoming and relaxed with a grown-up crowd that comes for good food and good music. Regulars describe a place filled with love where everyone is made to feel at home.
What They Serve
The kitchen serves home-cooked dishes built on family recipes that blend New York and Southern cooking. The bar is known for its signature cocktails and wine. Harlym Blue'Z also offers catering and private event rentals.
