1860 Saloon, Game Room & Hardshell Café

At the heart of the Soulard neighborhood you will find the soul of the music scene in St. Louis. In one location for over 35 years, 1860s offers live music 365 days a year — making it one of the most committed live music venues in the entire Midwest.

Three Rooms, One Music Scene

The venue offers three great experiences under one roof: the Saloon, with its vintage back bar and wood floors where you can relax and enjoy talented St. Louis and Midwestern musicians; the Game Room, with its high wood-beamed ceiling, wall of windows and large brick fireplace; and the Hardshell Café itself. The Hardshell Cafe delivers a sit-down dining experience in a New Orleans courtyard atmosphere, complete with giant jesters and a 500-gallon freshwater fish tank.

Live Music & Open Mic

Live music every night spans jazz, blues, and rhythm & blues. Mondays are reserved for a regular performer, and Tuesdays are open mic night. The Tuesday open mic draws a loyal crowd and has earned a reputation as one of Soulard's most welcoming nights for emerging artists — patrons describe it as an amazing experience with talented musicians, a great crowd, and friendly bartenders that make even first-time visitors feel like regulars.

What Patrons Get

The menu runs from traditional American fare — burgers, fries, hand-battered chicken strips — to Creole-style specialties like Seafood Gumbo, as well as wood-fired St. Louis-style pizzas and famous crab cakes. The bar pours an extensive selection of local craft beers, cocktails, and spirits, with happy hour running Monday through Friday, 3 to 6 PM, with appetizer and drink specials.

Free parking is available in a private lot across the street and for sports fans, 1860s offers a complimentary shuttle to and from Cardinals and Blues games, dropping off and picking up right near the stadium entrance -- a genuinely useful perk that makes it a pregame and postgame destination for the entire city.

Private parties are available in the Game Room, bookable Monday through Thursday. The venue is wheelchair accessible and open daily from 11 AM to 1:30 AM.
