The Grey Eagle is an all-ages live music venue located in the heart of Asheville's River Arts District. As Asheville's longest-running live music venue - The Grey Eagle has been showcasing performances since moving from Black Mountain to Asheville in 1998. The inaugural show at the current location was performed by David LaMotte on June 11 - 1999.

The Grey Eagle has earned national recognition as one of the Southeast's most iconic venues. Touring musicians have voted it as one of the top 25 live music venues in the country - and it was labeled one of the Ten Must-See Music Venues in the Southeast by Garden and Gun magazine. The venue hosts Golden Folk Sessions (formerly Open Folk AVL) - offering intimate carefully curated listening experiences that celebrate original music. These events showcase six handpicked artists performing three-song sets in a quiet seated environment from 7-9pm - with the lineup revealed only when the show begins. The sessions operate on a pay what you can if you can model to ensure accessibility.
