The Legendary Songwriters' Showcase

Eddie's Attic stands as one of America's most important songwriter development venues. Founded in 1991 by Eddie Owen this Decatur listening room has launched careers that shaped contemporary music. John Mayer Shawn Mullins Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland Clay Cook The Civil Wars Luke Combs Tyler Childers and countless others developed their artistry on this stage.

The Open Mic Tradition

For over 20 years Eddie's has hosted a weekly Monday night Songwriters Open Mic (starting at 7:30 PM) that draws both local and national acts. Hosted by Matt Arnett since 2012 the format gives each performer two songs with three finalists returning for a third song at evening's end competing for a cash prize and spot in the bi-annual Open Mic Shootout.

The Open Mic Shootout held twice yearly for 27 years has become legendary in songwriter circles. This competition provides rare exposure to music industry professionals and devoted fans. Past winners represent a who's who of contemporary music demonstrating the event's track record for identifying major talent.

Beyond the open mic Eddie's presents touring acts nightly across genres from Americana to rock. Recent artists include rising stars and established Grammy winners. The venue's reputation ensures that playing Eddie's Attic carries significant weight in music industry circles.

Venue Details

Intimate listening room seating approximately 200. Full bar open until 11 PM or later. Kitchen serves until 10 PM with a menu featuring elevated pub fare. Last artist typically goes on stage around 10:30 PM. Sign-ups for open mic available online at eddiesattic.com/sign-up. Thursday evening also features patio comedy open mic hosted by Matt Talley with free entry.

Hours: 5 PM - 12 AM Monday through Sunday. The venue operates as both restaurant/bar and performance space with professional sound and lighting that rival larger venues.
