About Double Down Saloon
Double Down Saloon is Las Vegas's legendary punk rock dive bar and live music venue. Founded in 1992 by P Moss the venue has become an internationally recognized anti-Vegas institution famous for its motto Shut Up and Drink its graffiti-covered walls and its unwavering commitment to underground music culture.
Punk Rock Heritage
Since its earliest days Double Down Saloon has been a cornerstone of Las Vegas's punk and indie music community. The venue hosts live music nightly without cover charges featuring punk garage rock rockabilly psychobilly surf and other underground genres. The intimate setting provides a platform for both touring bands and local acts with all performers receiving compensation - a rarity for small venues.
Atmosphere and Character
The interior is a sensory explosion of graffiti stickers neon art hand-painted signs and layers of dive bar memorabilia creating what has been described as a study in chaos art. The famous bathrooms left in perpetual disrepair after patron vandalism of renovation attempts have become legendary in their own right. The venue operates 24/7 with a 12-hour happy hour from noon to midnight.
Music Programming
Double Down Saloon primarily books punk and garage bands along with rockabilly psychobilly surf lo-fi and other off-center styles. The venue explicitly does not book acoustic acts singer-songwriters country emo metal electronic industrial hip hop reggae or jam bands maintaining its pure punk rock identity. Booking is handled via email only.
Signature Drinks
The bar is famous for two signature concoctions: Ass Juice a potent brown shot with no fixed recipe traditionally served in toilet-shaped glasses and the Bacon Martini - vodka infused with bacon fat and garnished with crispy bacon. These drinks along with the venue's unpretentious cheap drinks have become part of Double Down's legend.
Cultural Impact
Double Down Saloon has received national media attention from publications like Rolling Stone Playboy and Maxim. Both Anthony Bourdain and Dave Attell featured the venue on their shows. The bar represents an authentic counterpoint to Las Vegas's corporate entertainment culture providing a refuge for those seeking raw unpolished dive bar experience.
Location
Located at 4640 Paradise Road near the airport and east of the Strip Double Down Saloon occupies a nondescript white brick building with a small parking lot. The location's original remoteness nearly doomed the bar but eventually the city's expansion and the venue's reputation turned it into a must-visit destination.
Expansion
In 2022 P Moss opened Triple Down Saloon inside the Punk Rock Museum continuing Double Down's musical legacy in a new format while the original Paradise Road location continues operating as Las Vegas's premiere punk rock institution.
