Digby's Pub and Patio
Digby's Pub and Patio is a family-owned pub and restaurant at 133 North 4th Street on the courthouse square in historic downtown Lafayette Indiana. It calls itself Greater Lafayette's Premier Pub and Patio and it pairs elevated pub food with a relaxed and welcoming room just a short trip across the river from Purdue University. Locals come for the burgers and the big patio and they stay for trivia and live music and the open mic nights that have made Digby's a friendly stop for downtown performers.
History
Digby's is named after William Digby who founded the town of Lafayette in 1825. The pub has been family owned for more than a decade and has become a fixture of the downtown square. It shares close ties with the Knickerbocker Saloon around the corner on North 5th Street where Digby's food is delivered free to saloon guests so a night downtown can easily move between the two.
Atmosphere and Setting
Inside Digby's has the comfortable feel of a neighborhood pub with room for groups and friends. Outside is the main attraction. Digby's boasts the largest patio in the area with seating for about 50 guests and it is one of the best places downtown to enjoy a warm evening with a drink and some music. The pub keeps late hours and is open every day from 11:00 AM to 3:00 AM.
Open Mic Nights
Open mic nights are part of the regular entertainment lineup at Digby's alongside weekly trivia and live music. The open mic gives singer-songwriters and acoustic players and other local musicians a laid-back place to share covers and original songs in front of a supportive downtown crowd. The event has its own Facebook page called Open Mic Night at Digby's Pub and Patio. Digby's does not list a set day or time on its website so check that page or the pub's social accounts for the current schedule before heading out.
Live Music and Trivia
Digby's books live music throughout the year and has hosted regional acts such as Davey and The Midnights and the Swamp Rats and Michael Charles. Weekly trivia nights keep the room busy midweek and the pub also hosts all-ages events and seasonal celebrations including a Thanksgiving Day feast.
Food and Drink
The kitchen focuses on artisan American pub fare made fresh and never frozen with an emphasis on regionally raised food. Beef and tenderloins come from local favorite This Old Butcher Shoppe. Popular plates include cheese bricks with raspberry sauce and hand-built burgers along with fried chicken sliders and pulled pork mac and cheese and classic breaded tenderloins. The bar pours handcrafted cocktails and domestic and craft beers along with a wine list and daily specials.
Private Parties and Catering
Digby's hosts private parties and group gatherings for up to 50 guests and offers off-site catering. Reservations are accepted and groups of eight or more receive an automatic 18 percent gratuity.
