Friday Night Jazz Series

The Friday Night Jazz series is the crown jewel of DI Coffee Bar's music programming having celebrated its second anniversary in October 2025. Every Friday from 7:30-10 PM the back patio transforms into an intimate jazz venue featuring guitarist Dominic Walker and a rotating cast of Tampa Bay's finest musicians including drummer Paul Gavin trumpeter James Suggs vocalist Bryan Hughes and bassist Jon Shea.

The performances feature mostly off-the-cuff standards and improvisation creating a spontaneous collaborative atmosphere. There's a five-dollar door charge at the back entrance and seating fills quickly so early arrival is recommended. The series has attracted both locals and travelers from across Tampa Bay who appreciate the high-quality musicianship in an informal setting. On occasion notable guest performers including Grammy-winning vocalist Samara Joy have dropped by to sit in with the house band.

The back patio features fire pits and space heaters ensuring year-round comfort for outdoor performances. In case of rain music moves inside to the cozy interior space. Both the indoor area and patio offer casual seating perfect for settling in with a bottle of wine or coffee while enjoying the music. The intimate setting creates a unique opportunity to experience world-class jazz up close.

Coffee and Food

DI Coffee Bar serves Miami-based Panther Coffee for all coffee drinks from cappuccinos to americanos and everything in between. The all-day menu features creative variations on the Cuban sandwich including the pesto Cuban and Caprese version alongside breakfast items like avocado toast and breakfast sandwiches. The coffee shop also offers a unique mix of retail items including beer wine candles and other curated products.

Expansion and Community Impact

The success of the Davis Islands location has led to plans for a second DI Coffee Bar in Seminole Heights at 6114 N Central Ave in the former Cake Cuties Bakery space. This expansion demonstrates the coffee shop's growing role in Tampa's cultural landscape and its commitment to bringing quality coffee and live music to more neighborhoods.
