C&P Coffee Company
C&P Coffee Company is a West Seattle coffeehouse that feels like a neighbor's living room. It fills a vintage bungalow on California Avenue SW with comfy seating and a front porch and a small music space. For more than two decades it has been a gathering spot for coffee lovers and families and local artists and songwriters.
The Story Behind C&P
Owners Cameron and Pete Moores opened C&P in the early 2000s and built it into a true community hub that has hosted hundreds of gatherings and performances and fundraisers. In 2018 the longtime landlord put the property up for sale and marketed it as a development opportunity. The neighborhood rallied. Hundreds of people donated to a campaign to save the coffeehouse and the owners used their right of first refusal to buy the house and preserve it. The owners said it best at the time. It is a home and it is your home.
The Vibe
Inside you will find mismatched chairs and warm wood and a relaxed pace. Neighbors meet over lattes and kids play while parents catch up. At night the front room becomes a listening room where original songs get real attention.
What They Serve
C&P serves coffee and espresso drinks along with tea and pastries and snacks. It is a good daytime work spot and an easy place to meet friends.
Songwriter Showcase
On the second Friday of each month from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM C&P hosts the Songwriter Showcase presented by Songwriters In Seattle. Four local writers each play a 25-minute set of original songs and Todd Christoffel hosts. Performers sign up in advance through the Songwriters In Seattle group.
Why Musicians Like It
This is not a loud bar where songs get lost. The audience comes to listen and the longer sets let songwriters show their range. All ages are welcome which makes it a great family night out.
