About BB's Lawnside BBQ

BBs Lawnside BBQ has been the place where BBQ meets the Blues for over 30 years. The venue features an over 60-year-old granite stone pit that slow-smokes award-winning Kansas City-style barbecue while live blues fills the space.

Historic BBQ and Blues Tradition

The tradition of barbecue and blues in Kansas City started in the 1930s when Count Basie Joe Turner and Charlie Parker hung out at the Old Kentucky Bar-B-Q near 18th and Vine. BBs continues this legacy with authentic slow-smoked meats and nightly blues performances.

Live Music Schedule

Live blues Wednesday through Sunday. Wednesday features Jaisson Taylor and Brandon Hudspeth. Mama Rays blues jam every Saturday 2-6 PM. Thursday jam nights. Various blues acts Friday through Sunday evenings. Monthly Kansas City Blues Society events.

Food and Atmosphere

Award-winning barbecue with ribs smoked 10-12 hours and brisket 14-16 hours over hickory wood. Louisiana specialties include gumbo jambalaya and crawfish tails. Rowdy friendly dive bar atmosphere with murals of blues legends covering the walls.
