About Flagstaff Friends of Traditional Music

FFOTM is dedicated to showcasing the best in folk and acoustic music in Arizona and beyond. The organization sponsors weekly acoustic music jams and hosts the annual Pickin' in the Pines Bluegrass Festival.

Weekly Bluegrass Jam

Open to the public with a musical focus on bluegrass though other folk music forms are welcome. Musicians should have knowledge of basic chords and ability to keep steady beat. Listeners are always welcome. The jam uses a Google group to share videos and instructional materials of songs played weekly.

Format and Etiquette

Practice session from 11am-noon for those wanting to brush up on specific tunes followed by main jam noon-1pm. Jamming etiquette is required. Participants bring songs to share based on oral tradition. Songs with minimum chords in folk old-time and bluegrass genres work best. Check the Meetup site for current location information updated weekly.
