Blue Portland Maine (BPM)

BPM is a nonprofit arts organization and music venue on Congress Street in downtown Portland that hosts roughly 300 performances every year. Its programming features local and touring musicians playing jazz and Celtic and Middle Eastern music plus blues and bluegrass and folk.

Atmosphere and Setting

Blue is an intimate room that also serves fine wines and Maine craft brews along with spirits and a small menu. As a nonprofit its proceeds go back into community events which gives the space a supportive artist-first feel.

Tuesday Open Mic

Every Tuesday BPM runs an open mic from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM with doors at 6:00 PM. Music performances begin at 7:00 PM and comedy follows at 9:30 PM. Sign-up is handled through online forms that open at noon on the day of the show and close at 6:00 PM or when the slots fill. In-person sign-up is available if online slots run out and a finalized lineup is posted before each event. Admission is pay what you can with cash at the door or prepaid online and all money collected supports BPM's community events.

Other Programming

BPM also hosts a weekly Portland Drawing Group on Mondays and a Wednesday evening wine gig series along with a steady calendar of jazz and folk and world music shows.
