About The Ark
The Ark is a nationally renowned nonprofit folk and acoustic music listening room at 316 South Main Street in downtown Ann Arbor, and it has been a stop for touring singer-songwriters for more than five decades.
Atmosphere and Setting
This is a genuine concert hall built for attentive audiences, not a casual bar. Seating puts everyone close to the stage, and the crowd comes to listen. That focused atmosphere is a big part of the Ark's appeal and sets the Ark apart from a typical bar gig.
Music
The Ark presents ticketed concerts by touring folk, roots, and singer-songwriter artists throughout the year. It also opens its stage to local performers at community events, giving Michigan artists a chance to play on the same stage as the acts they admire.
A Nonprofit Mission
As a nonprofit organization, the Ark relies on ticket sales, memberships, donations, and volunteers, and its members enjoy benefits such as free or discounted admission to some events. Supporting the Ark helps keep live acoustic music thriving in the Ann Arbor community.
