Venue Overview
Alchemy Coffee is a distinctive independent coffee shop in Salt Lake City that has been serving the community since 2005. Located in a large gray building the shop is known for its unique spooky aesthetic featuring skeletons haunted decor and eclectic artwork year-round creating an atmosphere unlike any other coffee shop in Utah.
Coffee and Food
The shop uses exclusively organic beans from Salt Lake Roasting Company a well-known local roaster ensuring high-quality coffee drinks. Popular menu items include the White Witch (spicy chai with rose white chocolate and cinnamon) the Mayan Mocha (vanilla chocolate and cayenne) and various specialty lattes. Adding the phrase Get it spooky adds an espresso shot to any drink. The shop also offers locally-sourced organic vegan and gluten-free pastries treats and foods as well as made-to-order soups salads and sandwiches.
Music and Arts Programming
Every Tuesday from 6:00-9:00 PM Alchemy hosts an open mic night with a unique rule - no cover songs allowed. This policy creates a space specifically for original songwriters and musicians with rotating hosts from IAMA and the community. Sign-up starts at 5:45 PM and performers must be present. The shop has also hosted after-hours art shows and features rotating local artwork on its walls creating a gallery-like atmosphere.
Community Space
Alchemy Coffee has earned a reputation for having some of the comfiest couches in Salt Lake City along with plenty of tables and chairs both inside and outside. The shop is dog-friendly and provides free WiFi making it an ideal workspace. Drip coffee in a to-stay mug is remarkably affordable at just 93 cents. The venue welcomes all people and has created an inclusive space where customers can be themselves.

The owner Jason believes in the magic of coffee preparation viewing baristas as coffee witches and alchemists who craft the golden beverage for the community. This philosophy is reflected in the creative freedom given to staff who are encouraged to express their individuality. The shop's music selection ranges from ambient groovy dance to outlaw country and Celtic. Alchemy has become a true community hub where local artists musicians and coffee lovers gather to connect and create.
