About Cantab Lounge

Since 1938 Cantab Lounge has been the heart of live music in Cambridge's Central Square. This legendary dive bar presents live music seven nights a week in both the main lounge and underground performance space.

Musical Heritage

The Cantab has a rich history hosting blues jazz bluegrass and rock performances. For 27 years Tuesday Night Bluegrass was a Cambridge institution hosted by Geoff Bartley and featuring nationally-known artists. The venue continues to nurture emerging talent while honoring its storied past.

Dual Spaces

The venue features two performance areas - the upstairs lounge and the basement which hosts the renowned Boston Poetry Slam on Wednesday nights. With affordable drinks friendly staff and consistent quality programming Cantab Lounge remains a beloved neighborhood institution.
