About Center for Southern Folklore

The Center for Southern Folklore is a historic venue located in downtown Memphis dedicated to celebrating the arts music and heritage of the South. Operating since 1974 the Center documents and presents the music culture and rhythms of the Memphis Delta region.

The Jazz Jam

Founded by Cequita Monique the 1st Sunday Jazz Jam Pop Up Series brings funky engaging jazz to downtown Memphis. The event features both established musicians like Stephen Lee (founder of Memphis Jazz Workshop) and emerging artists. Food drinks and desserts are available for purchase.

Food & Atmosphere

The cafe specializes in traditional Southern food including famous mac and cheese greens chili tamales cornbread and legendary peach cobbler. Live performances typically occur Friday and Saturday nights with the jazz jam highlighting Sundays.
